2006 Shishapangma Expedition dispatchesHello! Above Hans walks above ABC on a stormy day. This wasn't a case of fifth time lucky... Unusual weather conditions beat us, climbing at 7700m just felt plain unsafe from the snow conditions and we turned back for reasons of safety. Iņaki did make the true summit of Shishapangma in atrocious conditions, and recognized by Best of ExplorersWeb 2006 Awards. Anyone who says the Main summit is easy is talking crap, he says, and all agree... Now he has 11 of the fourteen 8000m mountain summits; Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Kanchenjunga to go.
Hans at Camp 2: photo by Clive Why Shishapangma? There were around 550 climbers and climbing sherpas this season on Cho Oyu...! Thanks for all your support. |
