in safe areas that have never experienced the separatist Kashmir troubles.

2009 season

For several years India and Pakistan have been trying to resolve differences and the countries are slowly moving (with inevitable hiccups) towards a permanent solution. Now the problem is much more internal, general dissatisfaction within Kashmir, however tourists are not a target.

If travelling be mentally prepared for random strikes and other disturbances. We still do not recommend trekking out of Srinagar and the trekking routes that are accessed from that side of Kashmir.
