Sheila's Khumbu High trek photos 4: Kala PattarAfter crossing the Chola we trekked to Lobuche and Gorak Shep where we climbed Kala Pattar for more Everest views. Here is the classic shot showing the Khumbu ice fall.
The food was great at Gorak Shep, and reasonable in price, especially considering where it is, at 5150m and days from the nearest market. Here the lodge manager is working in the kitchen, Joel also got in there working some special treats. |

We hade it up Kala Pattar! This is the very top and Pumori is behind.
We saw some great sunsets, and the several on the mountains around us at Gorak Shep had to be the best.
When you approach the lodges of Gorak Shep you have little idea that they are this spectacularly set.
Gorak Shep used to be known as a very cold place, but now there are good lodges with potbelly stoves inside, here our porters enjoy the warmth |
