Sheila's Khumbu High trek photos 2

And we continue from Namche to Gokyo.

Ama Dablam, a star of the Khumbu

The stupendous Ama Dablam is probably the most striking mountain in the region.
You see it from different angles all around the region.

yaks at the second lake en route to Gokyo

This is the life! And you couldn't find a more scenic place, the second lake with Cholatse in the background.

Each village is proud to have its own gompa, essentially a temple and place of worship.

We frequently stop on the trail to admire the view. Here is part of the team, L to R, Sheila, Akhilesh, Aoife, Rory, Urs and Jan.

our wonderful porters and Cho Oyu

While not many of us would like to carry a load like this, our porters were professionals and the loads were quite reasonable, and we paid them very well. They were a great team and really nice guys, and often stopped in photogenic spots.

Oh Gokyo

So that is why people visit Gokyo, not only is set in a magnificent place, but the views from the hills nearby are fantastic.

Cholatse

Everest from Gokyo

Most people come to see Everest, and we did! Lhotse, #4 in the world, is on the right and between is the staggering Nuptse wall.

a real yak

At last a good picture of a yak (although I am not sure where the green came from)

Peter on knobby view

We climbed knobby view and it is probably the most spectacular viewpoint in the Khumbu.
This is Peter's picture from a few years ago.
