Northern Ireland Everest Expedition 2003

Near the summit the route we followed turned away from the easier snow slopes to steepish scree and rock. Shishapangma is in the distance, slightly left of Cho Oyu 8201m, the white flat-topped peak (normally climbed from the other side). In the centre with the big face is Gyachung Kang, the 15th highest mountain, just below the magic 8000m mark.
At last! There's the summit.
Those layers! Sue Fear and a Himalayan Experience sherpa ascend the last section to the summit.
Banjo on the summit! He was the last person to summit that season and had the
top to himself.
Jamie summitted about an hour earlier spending around 45
minutes on the summit without bottled oxygen. |
