Luckily when you are driving the sides of the road don't seem quite as steep as they are. The gorge leaving Zhangmu for the climb to Nyalam is probably one of the most breath-taking there is.
On the fourth day from Kathmandu we cross our first pass, the 5150m Lalung La. Shishapangma dominates the background.
Taken when driving out this is the captivating panorama of the valley that leads to Shishapangma and to Kailash.
After another day acclimating in Tingri/Dingri, we cross our second pass, the Pang La where we had great views of the Himalaya. |
