Mick Parker summits Gasherbrum I!After a tough and dangerous climb, Mick summitted Gasherbrum I on the 29th of July 24 July - Mick Parker joins our BCMick was climbing with the Australian Army Alpine Association team who had to return, their expedition time was up, without success. Mick had more time and so came over to share our BC; I summitted Broad Peak at the same time as Mick in 2004, and have met Mick many times in Kathmandu. He was climbing independently, I should make that clear. 29 July - Mick summitsSetting off just before 2am, Mick climbed steadily, breaking trail for the Hungarian team, virtually all the way to the summit. It was around a 12 hour climb on progressively steeper and steeper and more dangerous ground. Several other teams turned back when one climber fell to his death. Very sad. Mick said that the terrain was hideously dangerous.
