Summit push!

We are heading up to try to summit!

1 June - Johan down

Yesterday morning Johan came down with symptoms very similar to what he had come down with while we were at North Col on the last summit push. He had seen Ivy, the DCXP doctor that we share, but it seems that he probably had Giardia or less likely Amoebic dysentery, and this has reoccurred. So today he is heading down to BC and out to Kathmandu soon.

1 June - expedition team to North Col, 7000m

The team is Jamie, Kirsti, Gavin and Kevin, and we will climb with the DCXP team too, who are coming up today. Duncan will be supervising from ABC and perhaps higher, and keeping us updated on the latest weather forecasts. so a real team effort.

Today's forecast is for plenty of wind, we are expecting that, so it will be a cold trip up to North Col. At least the tents are fairly sheltered there.

Gavin and Kevin leave ABC for North Col

2 June - climb to Camp 2, 7650m

Providing the weather forecast hasn't changed dramatically we will climb to Camp 2, the windy place. The sherpas will climb from ABC up to here in one day and meet us here.

3 June - climb to Camp 3, 8210m

This might be a tough climb, as it will still be a bit windy. Then we wait until the night when the wind stops and we start our climb to the summit on the 4th - with luck!

We won't be updating this website until we get down, instead...

Check Gavin Attwood's updates, he will be phoning thru to his wife who will post brief dispatches. No update means we are busy...

And also Kevin's dispatches, which might be posted the same way.

And check the DCXP dispatches too... All open in a new tab or window.

And you can SMS us, on the side bar but you won't get a reply.
