8000m history

We partner with DCXP Mountain Journeys for some of our expeditions

Mountain Hardwear: no sponsorship, just great gear

Enertia Trailfoods: the best mountain food, good day after day...

Base Camp planning

We are down at BC recovering and planning our summit push.

24 May: Jamie at 7650m, backup for Philippe - Jamie
In a Mountain Hardwear EV3 single skin tent, perfect for the wind up there.
Radio top right, stove inside, bottom right oxygen regulator.

25 May: Philippe descending from North Col; ABC upper center,
Lhakpa Ri (7045m) on the right, jet stream clouds in the sky - Jamie

26 May - at BC, 5150m

While Jamie and Philippe were trekking down to BC the rest of the team were resting here.

27 May - BC

Philippe left this morning. I am guessing a few other people would really love to have summitted and be in the Landcruiser as well, and not just from our team. However even if we summit on the last day or two possible, we will still have only been on expedition as long as any other team - not longer, as most expeditions started in early April.

22 May: the climbing sherpas on the last rope into North Col -
Dawa Gyalgen, Mindu, Kami, Pasang Gombu looking away, Ngima Chhiri and Nawang Geden - Namgyal is missing - by Jamie

27 May - Base camp plans

Currently the jet stream has moved near Everest, bringing very strong winds on top, and the wind is howling up there. The monsoon forces from the south will push the jet stream north in a week or so, and that will be our summit window. This will bring calmer, warmer weather and also a little snow.

It looks like we will start moving up to ABC tomorrow, ready for summitting in early June, but before we commit to plans we will check what the latest weather forecast says.
