ABC PujaWe have our Puja, to show our respect for the mountain 29 April - ABC PujaMost of us woke up feeling a little hung over - normal for the large jump in altitude we have just taken. After the Puja we felt less hung over, which, as some of you might know, is not quite so usual. Luckily the Tukuche Apple Brandy and the Marpha Mustang Brandy was served in the bottle cap, not a tumbler, and there was a choice of Red Bull or canned beer. As a ceremony, it was touching, with Dawa's sonorous voice, and personal as it was our climbing sirdar not an anonymous monk. Everyone from our team including all the climbing sherpas from the camps around joined in as well. Depending on how you think, our crampons and ice axes were either being blessed or forgiven for the upcoming damaged to the mountain. Regardless of the religion or beliefs of Dawa and the Sherpas, it was a time for reflection of our up-coming climb.
