Shigatse - Tashi Lunpo Monastery

At Tibet's second biggest city we overnight and look around the Tashi Lunpo Monastery.

20 April - arrive Shigatse

The hotel is good, and even the meals are surprisingly good, an improvement over last year. The highlight though is looking around the large Tashi Lunpo Monastery, seat of the Panchen Lama, who's powers roughly balance with the Dalai Lama's. The latest Panchen Lama is number 11 while the current Dalai Lama is number 14.

I am guessing he is visiting his brother, who is a student at the monastery
